Day Of Action: Welfare Cuts Health Education Housing Rail Magee
Time & Location
About the Event
Welfare Cuts - Education - Health - Housing - Rail Expansion - Magee University
Ordinary people from all backgrounds and communities are bearing the brunt of Welfare Reform and a raft of other cuts. If benefit mitigation payments are allowed to expire in March next year thousands of families will be forced to pay the Bedroom Tax. Universal Credit has pushed many people into debt and poverty - its full roll-out will punish many thousands more families and individuals. Our public services are being destroyed and poverty wages are widespread.
On 5 October 1968 people in Derry organised to demand Civil Rights and economic justice. We need a similar people power rising today to demand the changes ordinary people need to make their lives better. Without a visible people power movement the powerful and decision makers will ignore our demands.
On October 5 join Derry Trades Union Council, UNISON Community Branch, Action Against Cuts, AEGIS, the Civil Rights for the 21st Century Committee, Alliance for Choice, Derry and Strabane Councillors and many other anti-poverty campaigners to demand an end to cuts and equality for all.
