IWW Ireland
Capitalism is the Virus!

The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) Ireland Branch have issued a list of demands ahead of a rapidly changing situation both nationally and internationally due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
A spokesperson for the IWW said "In front of the present exceptional situation that we are faced with due to the coronavirus emergency, our class needs to remain vigilant in defending our rights in front of any potential threat from employers and businesses who will use such a situation to profit themselves and attack workers rights as we know it.
"It is vital that we organise and encourage others to unionise. Each of us must begin to organise our workplaces with co-workers to help protect rights we have fought decades for.
"Workers rights of which the bosses will intend to remove, scrap or diminish further during this current crisis within capitalism. They will undoubtedly seek to protect their own interests first. It is up to all of us to get informed, get unionised and fightback against any attempt to attack workers further.
"Working class communities throughout the country will face unprecedented demands due to the nature of this global virus but our history has shown us what is needed on times of crisis and that is practice of genuine working class unity, solidarity and mutual aid. We have learnt these lessons well on picket lines and strikes. The motto of our union since its formation has been 'an injury to one, is an injury to all' which has inspired working class unity and struggle throughout the decades and in turn will continue to be our rallying call today."
