IWW: Racist Hate Not Welcome Here!

The Industrial Workers of the World in the North West took part in an anti-racist counter protest outside Coleraine centre earlier this afternoon. The event was a trade union and community response to the far-right, who had planned to mobilise "thousands" to their County Derry 'hate fest'.


A spokesperson for the IWW said that "It's important that the trade union movement actively opposes fascism when and wherever it attempts to raise its ugly head. What we must never allow is for these elements to have the streets or the platform to spew their hate unchallenged.


"Time and time again, we have witnessed attempts by fascists to sew division and hate, both back in the 80's and in the 90's. They failed then as they have today. The response from the workers and the working class communities of Coleraine has been loud and clear. 'You are not welcome here!'


Today's counter protest was organised by Coleraine Trade Union Council.
