Members of the IWW Dublin Branch along other community, trade union, and antiracist activists took part in a counter demonstration in central Dublin against fascism. Several hundred gathered opposite the GPO drowning out a hate parade through our streets.
A number of speakers addressed the crowds who noted the growing attacks on migrant workers and their families, the burning of buildings, the intimidation and an increase in racial violence on the streets. All this staged conveniently ahead of forthcoming elections.
For revolutionary syndicalists, what's for sure well meant speeches, NGOs, politicians or the government will not stop the fascists from mobilising and stirring up further hate and division.
History has shown us that an organised labour, our communities, our workplaces must mobilise now.
