Today, March 3rd, the Industrial Workers of the World extend our solidarity as International Sex Workers’ Rights Day continues to be celebrated.
March 3rd is a recognised day that was first marked back in 2001 to both highlight and honour sex workers. To remember those who are no longer with us as well as to actively organise and advocate for dignity, for safety, and of course to demand our rights as workers.
Today, we acknowledge that throughout the world, sex workers continue to be denied their basic human rights, such as access to health care whilst being targeted and incarcerated. Sex workers also continue to be subjected to violence or socially isolated and stigmatised.
As a union, we believe that all workers have rights and encourage all sex workers to unionise. Together, we are stronger to demand what is rightfully ours.
